Before the inspection, we reviewed the information we held about the service. This included the previous inspection report and notifications since the last inspection. Notifications are changes, events and incidents that the service must inform us about. We used information the provider sent us in the Provider Information Return (PIR). This is information we require providers to send us at least once annually to give some key information about the service, what the service does well and improvements they plan to make.
Products and tools designed to keep your mouth clean or take care of teeth, dentures, gums and the tongue are included in this section. This means everything from electric toothbrushes to denture cleaner and mouthwash are found in this section. Pain relief and treatment for oral health ailments such as canker sores are also found in the Oral Care section of our Personal Care Products department. We include oral hygiene items for both adults and children in this section.
We are not anti-facility. We just know that most seniors want to stay in their homes for as long as possible. Many times this can be until they pass away. We also know that moving a senior to a facility is usually the final move and the most difficult one because everything changes–their surroundings, their neighbors, their church house and they have to leave many precious memories behind. It’s got to be the toughest move we ever make in life. That’s why we do what we do.

Dispatch: The second step in the chain of survival is ‘dispatch’, which involves activating emergency medical services. In most cases, this involves calling 911. Medical dispatch should be thoroughly trained to identify a possible stroke patient so that the appropriate level of EMS services can be dispatched to the patient. Simply stated, the faster EMS can be dispatched, the quicker lifesaving treatment can be delivered.
Outcomes for individuals with stroke have improved significantly due to the implementation of Acute Stroke System of Care. The community is better equipped to recognize stroke as a “brain attack,” and there is greater awareness of the importance of medical care within one hour of symptom onset. Likewise, EMS systems have been enhanced to transport individuals to regional stroke care centers that are equipped to administer fibrinolytics.

Elderly care emphasizes the social and personal requirements of senior citizens who need some assistance with daily activities and health care, but who desire to age with dignity. It is an important distinction, in that the design of housing, services, activities, employee training and such should be truly customer-centered. It is also noteworthy that a large amount of global elderly care falls under the unpaid market sector.
This inspection took place on 17 September 2018 and was carried out by one inspector. The provider was given 48 hours’ notice of the inspection visit because it is a small domiciliary care agency and we needed to be sure that they would be in the office. We also needed them to get people’s consent for us to visit them at home or telephone them as part of the inspection.
